Chapter No: 1

Narrated from Aishah (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "There is no vowing for disobedience, and its expiation is the expiation of an oath."


Narrated from Aishah (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "There is no vowing in disobedience to Allah, and its expiation is the expiation of an oath."

Chapter No: 2

Narrated from Aishah (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever vowed to obey Allah, then he must obey Him. And whoever vowed to disobey Allah, then he must not disobey Him."

Chapter No: 3

Narrated from Thabit bin Adh-Dahhak (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "There is no Vow for a person over whom he has no control."

Chapter No: 4

Narrated from Uqbah bin Amir (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "The expiation of an unspecified vow is the expiation of an oath."

Chapter No: 5

Narrated from Abdur-Rahman bin Samurah (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "O 'Abdur-Rahman! Do not ask for a position of authority, for if you are given it by asking then you will be left alone with it, and if you get it without asking, then you will be helped in it. And if you take an oath and you see that something else is better than it, then do what is better, and make expiation for your oath."

Chapter No: 6

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever takes an oath, and then he sees that something else is better than it, then he should make expiation for his oath and then do it."

Chapter No: 7

Narrated from Ibn Umar (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "Whoever says 'If Allah wills (In sha Allah) while swearing about an oath, then there is no (expiation for) breaking of the oath against him."


Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "Whoever says 'If Allah wills (In sha Allah) while swearing [about an oath], then he has not broken it."

Chapter No: 8

Salim narrated rom his father (Ibn 'Umar) that the Prophet ﷺ heard Umar (RA) saying: "By my father, By my father!" So, he said: "Beware Allah forbids you from swearing by your ancestors." So 'Umar said: "By Allah I never swore by him after that, neither intentionally nor in quoting someone."


Narrated from Ibn Umar (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ came across Umar (RA) while he was on his mount, and he was swearing by his father. So, the Apostle of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed Allah forbids you from swearing by your ancestors. So, the one who swears, must swear by Allah, or keep quiet."

Chapter No: 9

Narrated from Sa'd bin Ubaidah that Ibn Umar (RA) heard a man saying: "No by the Ka'bah" so Ibn 'Umar said: "Nothing is sworn by other than Allah, for I heard the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) say: 'Whoever swears by other than Allah, he has committed disbelief or shirk.'"

Chapter No: 10

Anas (RA) said: "A Woman vowed to walk to the House of Allah, so the Prophet ﷺ was asked about that, and he said: ‘Indeed Allah is in no need of her walking, order her to ride.'"


Narrated from Anas (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ passed by old man walking (while supported) between his two sons, so he said: 'What is the matter with this man?' They said: "O Messenger of Allah! ﷺ He vowed to walk.' He said: ‘Indeed Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, is in no need of this person punishing himself.'" He said: "So he ordered him to ride."
