Chapter No: 1

Narrated from Sa'eed bin Abi Sa'eed Al Maqbury that when Amr bin Sa'eed was sending troops to Makkah Abu Shuraih Al-Adawi said to him: 'O Amr! permit me to narrate you what the Apostle of Allah ﷺ said on the day following the Conquest of Makkah. My two ears heard it, my heart remembered it, and with my own eyes, and when the Prophet ﷺ was saying it my two eyes saw it. He glorified and praised Allah and then said: "Indeed Allah, the Most High, made Makkah a sanctuary, but the people did not made it sacred. So, it is not lawful for a man who believes in Allah and the Last Day to shed blood it, nor to cut down its trees. If anybody tries to use the fighting of Allah's Apostle ﷺ to make an excuse for fighting in it, then tell him: 'Indeed Allah permitted His Messenger ﷺ and He did not permit you.' Allah only allowed it for me for a few hours of one day, and today its sanctity has returned as it was before. So, the one who is present should convey to the one who is absent." Abu Shuraih was asked: "What did Amr bin Sa'eeds reply to you?" He (said that Amr) said: "I know about that more than you Abu Shuraih! Indeed the Haram does not give refuge to the disobedient and the rebels or to those who flee after slaying someone or robbing someone."

They (the companions) asked: 'O Apostle of Allah! ﷺ Is that every year?' He remained silent. So, they asked again: 'O Apostle of Allah! ﷺ Is that every year?' He replied: 'No. If I had said yes, then it would have been made obligatory.' So, Allah the Exalted, revealed: '0 you who believe! Question not about things which if they were disclosed to you, would annoy you'. (5:101)"
