Chapter No: 11

Narrated from Jabir (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "When one of you eats food, and a morsel drops, then he should (pick it up and) remove anything suspicious from it and eat it. He must not leave it for Satan."


Narrated from Anas (RA) that when the Prophet ﷺ ate, he used to lick his three fingers, and he said: “If a morsel of one of you then he should (pick it up and) remove anything harmful (dirt) from it and eat it, and he must not leave it for Satan.” (Anas said) And he used to order us to finish (clean) the dish. And he said: “Indeed you do not know in which part of your food lies the blessing.”


Umm Asim, who was a slave woman of Sinan bin Salamah, said: “Nubaishah Al-Khair entered upon us while we were eating from a large bowl. He narrated to us that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: ‘Whoever eats from a bowl, then licks it, the bowl will seek forgiveness for him.’"

Chapter No: 12

Narrated from Ibn Abbas (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed the blessing descends in the middle of the food, so eat from its sides, and do not eat from its middle."

Chapter No: 13

Narrated from Jabir (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "Whoever eats from these; the first time, he said garlic, then he said - garlic, onion, and leek, then he should not come near to us in our Masjid."


Narrated from Jabir bin Samurah (RA) that when Allah’s Apostle ﷺ was staying with Abu Ayyub (RA). If he would eat some food, he used to send what was left to him (Abu Ayub). So one day he sent him some food (fully) from which the Prophet ﷺ did not eat anything. So Abu Ayyub went to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. The Prophet ﷺ said: “It contained garlic.” So, he said: “O Apostle of Allah! Is it unlawful?” He said: “No, I dislike it because of its odor."

Chapter No: 14

Narrated from Sharik bin Hanbal that Ali (RA) said: "Eating garlic was forbidden except when cooked."


Narrated from Sharik bin Hanbal that Ali (RA) said: "It is no good to eat garlic, except when cooked."


Ubaidullah bin Abi Burdah narrated from his father that Umm Ayyub (RA) informed him that the Prophet ﷺ had stayed with them, and they prepared some food for him containing some of these vegetables. But he disliked eating it, so he said to his Companions: "Eat it; for I am not like one of you, I fear that I may hurt my companion."


Abu Al-'Aliyah said: "Garlic is among the good provisions."

Chapter No: 15

Narrated from Jabir (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Close the door (before sleeping), tie up the water-skin, turn over the vessel, or cover the vessel, and extinguish the lantern. Indeed Satan does not open what is closed, nor untie what is fastened, nor uncover a vessel, (extinguish the lantern) because a small vermin may cause a fire in people's houses."


Salim narrated from his father, that the Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "Do not leave the fire (burning) in your houses when you go to sleep."

Chapter No: 16

Narrated from Ibn Umar (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ forbade from taking two dates together until allowed by one's companion.

Chapter No: 17

Narrated from Aishah (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "A house having no dates, its inhabitants are hungry."

Chapter No: 18

Narrated from Anas bin Malik (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed Allah is pleased with the slave who, after eating his food or drinking his drink, praises Him for it."

Chapter No: 19

Narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ took the hand of a leper and put it in the bowl. Then he said: “Eat in Allah's Name, trusting in Allah and relying upon Him.”

Chapter No: 20

Narrated from Ibn Umar (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "The disbeliever eats in seven intestines and the believer eats in one intestine."


Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Allah’s Apostle ﷺ had a disbeliever as a guest. So, Allah’s Apostle ﷺ ordered that a sheep be milked so he could drink. Then another was milked so he could drink, then another, so he drank until he had drank the milk of seven sheep. The he awoke the next morning and accepted Islam. The Apostle of Allah ﷺ ordered that a sheep be milked so he could drink its milk, then he ordered for another, but he could not finish it. So, the Apostle of Allah ﷺ said: 'The believer drinks in one intestine and the disbeliever drinks in seven.'"
