Sayings of the Messenger احادیثِ رسول اللہ ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ العَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ قَدِمَا فِي زَمَانِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَخَطَبَا، فَعَجِبَ النَّاسُ مِنْ كَلاَمِهِمَا، فَالتَفَتَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ مِنَ البَيَانِ سِحْرًا أَوْ إِنَّ بَعْضَ البَيَانِ سِحْرٌ.

Narrated from Ibn Umar (RA) that during the time of Allah’s Apostle ﷺ two men came and delivered sermons. The people were amazed by their speech, so Allah’s Apostle ﷺ turned toward us and said: "Indeed there is magic in eloquence'-or- 'Indeed some eloquence is magic.'"

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ العَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنِ العَلاَءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: مَا نَقَصَتْ صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَالٍ، وَمَا زَادَ اللَّهُ رَجُلاً بِعَفْوٍ إِلاَّ عِزًّا، وَمَا تَوَاضَعَ أَحَدٌ لِلَّهِ إِلاَّ رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ.

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "Charity does not decrease anything from wealth, and Allah does not increase a man in anything for his forgiveness but in honor, and none humbles himself for Allah but Allah raises him."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّاسٌ العَنْبَرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ العَزِيزِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: الظُّلْمُ ظُلُمَاتٌ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ.

Narrated from Ibn Umar (RA)that Prophet ﷺ said: "Oppression shall be darkness on the Day of Judgment."

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: مَا عَابَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَعَامًا قَطُّ كَانَ إِذَا اشْتَهَاهُ أَكَلَهُ وَإِلاَّ تَرَكَهُ.

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ never criticized any food. If he liked it, he would eat it otherwise he would leave it.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَكْثَمَ، وَالجَارُودُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ قَالاَ: حَدَّثَنَا الفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الحُسَيْنُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ، عَنْ أَوْفَى بْنِ دَلْهَمٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: صَعِدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَنَادَى بِصَوْتٍ رَفِيعٍ، فَقَالَ: يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَلَمْ يُفْضِ الإِيمَانُ إِلَى قَلْبِهِ، لاَ تُؤْذُوا الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَلاَ تُعَيِّرُوهُمْ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ، فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ تَتَبَّعَ عَوْرَةَ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ تَتَبَّعَ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ، وَمَنْ تَتَبَّعَ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ يَفْضَحْهُ وَلَوْ فِي جَوْفِ رَحْلِهِ قَالَ: وَنَظَرَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يَوْمًا إِلَى البَيْتِ أَوْ إِلَى الكَعْبَةِ فَقَالَ: مَا أَعْظَمَكِ وَأَعْظَمَ حُرْمَتَكِ، وَالمُؤْمِنُ أَعْظَمُ حُرْمَةً عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْكِ.

Ibn Umar (RA) said: “Allah’s Apostle ﷺ ascended the pulpit and said loudly: ’O gathering of those who accepted Islam with his tongue, while faith has not yet penetrated in his heart! Do not hurt the Muslims, nor disgrace them, nor spy on them to expose their secrets (faults). For indeed whoever tries to expose his Muslims brother’s secrets, Allah will expose his secrets wide open, even if he were in the depth of his house.’” He (Nafl’) said: ‘One day Ibn Umar looked at the House- or – the Ka’bah and said: “How great are you! How great is your sanctity! And the believer’s sanctity is more sacred to Allah than yours.’”

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الحَارِثِ، عَنْ دَرَّاجٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الهَيْثَمِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لاَ حَلِيمَ إِلاَّ ذُو عَثْرَةٍ، وَلاَ حَكِيمَ إِلاَّ ذُو تَجْرِبَةٍ.

Narrated from Abu Sa'eed (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "No one has the forbearance except for the one who stumbled, and no one has the wisdom except for the one who has experience."

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: مَنْ أُعْطِيَ عَطَاءً فَوَجَدَ فَلْيَجْزِ بِهِ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَلْيُثْنِ، فَإِنَّ مَنْ أَثْنَى فَقَدْ شَكَرَ، وَمَنْ كَتَمَ فَقَدْ كَفَرَ، وَمَنْ تَحَلَّى بِمَا لَمْ يُعْطَهُ كَانَ كَلاَبِسِ ثَوْبَيْ زُورٍ.

Narrated from Jabir (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever is given a gift, and then if he finds something (to give) then he should reciprocate. If he has nothing, then he should mention some praise. For whoever has mentioned some praise, then he has shown his gratitude. And whoever abstains (from doing so) then he has committed ungratefulness. And whoever pretends to be satisfied by that which he was not given, he is like the one who wears a garment of falsehood."

حَدَّثَنَا الحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الحَسَنِ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ بِمَكَّةَ، وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الجَوْهَرِيُّ، قَالاَ: حَدَّثَنَا الأَحْوَصُ بْنُ جَوَّابٍ، عَنْ سُعَيْرِ بْنِ الخِمْسِ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَنْ صُنِعَ إِلَيْهِ مَعْرُوفٌ فَقَالَ لِفَاعِلِهِ: جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا فَقَدْ أَبْلَغَ فِي الثَّنَاءِ.

Narrated from Usamah bin Zaid (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "Whoever was shown some favor and then he said to the benevolent: 'May Allah reward you in goodness then he has overdone the praise."
