Chapter No: 112

Rifa`ah bin Rafi (RA)narrated: “One day while Allah's Apostle ﷺ was sitting in the Masjid and we were with him; a man who looked like a Bedouin came and offered a brief Salah. He then turned and offered Salam to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said (returning the greeting): 'And upon you. Go back and offer Salah, for indeed you have not offered it.' So he returned and offered Salah then came back and offered Salam to the Prophet ﷺ. So he (the Prophet) said (returning the greeting): 'And upon you. Go back and offer Salah, for indeed you have not offered it.' He did that twice or thrice, every time he would come to the Prophet ﷺ and offer Salam to him and the Prophet ﷺwould reply: 'And upon you. Go back and offer Salah, for indeed you have not offered it.' So the people were worried because of that, imagining that whoever offered a brief Salah had not actually prayed. So this man said finally: 'Then show me, and teach me, for I am a human who has suffered and is mistaken.' So he said: 'Alright. When you stand for Salah then make Wudu as Allah has ordered you. Then say the Tashahhud and the Iqamah as well. If you know any Quran then recite it, if not then praise Allah, mention His greatness, and the Tahlil (There is no God but Allah). Then bow such that you are satisfied in your bowing, then stand straightly, then prostrate moderately, then sit such that you are satisfied while sitting then stand. If you have done that, then you have completed your Salah, and if you have left out something, then you have left something out of your Salah.' Rifa`ah said, ‘and this was easier on them than the first matter, because if some of this was deficient, It would only reduce the reward of his Salah, it would not have gone entirely’. "

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that Allah's Apostle ﷺ entered the Masjid, and a man entered and offered Salah. Then he came and offered Salam to the Prophet ﷺ. He responded to his Salam and said: “Go back and offer Salah, for indeed you have not offered it.” So the man went back and offered Salah as he had offered previously. Then he came back and offered Salam to the Prophet ﷺ. He responded to his Salam. Allah's Messenger ﷺ then said: “Go back and offer Salah, for indeed you have not offered it” until he did that thrice. So the man said to him: “By Him who has sent you with the Truth, I cannot offer any better than this Salah, so teach me.” So the Prophet ﷺ said [to him]: “When you stand for Salah then call the Takbeer, then recite from Quran whatever is easy for you. Then bow until you are satisfied while bowing, then rise up until you are at rest standing. Do that in all of your Salah.”

Muhammad bin Amr bin Ata' reported that he heard Abu Humaid As-Saidi (RA) saying - while he was among ten of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, one of whom was Abu Qatadah bin Ribi (RA) : “I know about the Salah of Allah's Apostle ﷺ more than anyone of you.” They said: “neither you preceded us in his companionship, nor were you in his company more frequently than us.” He said: “that is correct" They said: “Go ahead” So he said: “When Allah's Apostle ﷺ stood for Salah he would stand straight and raise his hands until they were adjacent to his shoulders, and when he intended to make Ruku he would (again) raise his hands until they were adjacent to his shoulders .Then he would call, (Allahu Akbar) ‘Allah is the Greatest’ and bow. Such that he is moderate (while bowing) neither lower his head, nor raise it high, and he would place his hands on his knees. Then he said: (Sami Allahu liman hamidah) "Allah listens to those who praises Him." And he would raise his hands and stand up moderately such that all of his bones completely returned to their places. Then he would bow down towards the ground for Sajdah, saying Allahu Akbar, Keeping arms apart from arm-pits, and opened his toes on his feet (facing the Qiblah), then he would bend his left foot and sit on it then straightened up until all of his bones completely returned to their placed, then he knelt down to make Sajdah saying (Allahu Akbar) "Allah is the Greatest," Keeping arms apart from arm-pits, and opened his toes on his feet (facing the Qiblah), then he would bend his left foot and sat on it then straightened up until all of his bones completely returned to their placed. Then he would stand up. Then in the second Rak'ah he did the same as that, such that when he stood from the two prostrations, he said the Takbeer and raised his hands until they were adjacent to his shoulders as he did while opening the Salah. Then he did like that until it was the last Rak'ah in which his Salah was to end, He would stretch the left leg and sit down on his hips in Mutawarrik form. Then he said the Tasleem.'"

Fatimah Al-Kubrah (RA) said: “When Allah's Apostle ﷺ entered the Masjid he invoked blessings on himself and then said: “O my Lord! Forgive me my sins, and open for me the doors to your mercy.” And when he came out he again invoked blessings on himself and then said: “O my Lord! Forgive me my sins, and open for me the doors to your favor.”

Ismail bin Ibrahim (a narrator in the chain of Hadith no. 314) told that he then met Abdullah bin Al-Hasan at Makkah and asked him about this hadith. He said that when the Prophet ﷺ entered the Masjid, he would say: “O my Lord! Open for me the doors to your mercy). And when he came out, he said: “O Lord! Open for me the doors to your favor.”

Chapter No: 120

Abu Qatadah (RA) reported that Allah's Apostle ﷺ said: "When any one of you comes in the Masjid, then he should offer two Rak'ah before his sits."
