Chapter No: 91

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: إِذَا سَجَدَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَعْتَدِلْ، وَلاَ يَفْتَرِشْ ذِرَاعَيْهِ افْتِرَاشَ الكَلْبِ.

Narrated from Jabir (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "When one of you prostrates, then let him be balanced, and let him not lay his forearms down like the dog."


Anas (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger ﷺ said: "Be balanced in the prostration, and let one of you not spread his forearms (on the ground) in the Salat like the spreading of the dog."

Chapter No: 92

Amir Bin Sa'd [bin Abi Waqqas] narrated from his father that the Prophet ﷺ commanded to place the hands (on the ground) and to keep the feet erect. (By resting feet on the toes and making the tips of the toes facing the Qiblah)


قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: وَقَالَ الْمُعَلَّى: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلاَنَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِوَضْعِ اليَدَيْنِ. فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِيهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ.

(Another chain) Narrated from Amir bin Sa'd (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ commanded them to place both palms on the ground. In this hadith he did not mention the father of Amir bin Sa’d.

Chapter No: 93

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُوسَى، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الحَكَمِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنِ البَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ، قَالَ: كَانَتْ صَلاَةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا رَكَعَ، وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ، وَإِذَا سَجَدَ، وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ السُّجُودِ: قَرِيبًا مِنَ السَّوَاءِ.

Al-Bara bin Azib (RA) said: “The Salah of Allah's Apostle ﷺ (was such that) when he bowed, and when he raised his head from bowing, and when he prostrated, and when he raised his head from prostration it (all) was nearly equal.


Al-Bara bin Azib (RA) narrated (Another chain) which is similar.

Chapter No: 94

حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا البَرَاءُ، وَهُوَ غَيْرُ كَذُوبٍ، قَالَ: كُنَّا إِذَا صَلَّيْنَا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ، لَمْ يَحْنِ رَجُلٌ مِنَّا ظَهْرَهُ حَتَّى يَسْجُدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَسْجُدَ.

Al-Bara (RA) said: "When we offered Salah behind Allah's Apostle ﷺ, he would raise his head from bowing, and no man among us would bend his back until Allah's Apostle ﷺ prostrated, then we prostrated."

Chapter No: 95

Ali (Ra) said: “Allah's Apostle ﷺ said to me: 'O Ali! I like for you what I like for myself, and I dislike for you what I dislike for myself. Do not squat between two prostrations.'"

Chapter No: 96

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ طَاوُوسًا، يَقُولُ: قُلْنَا لاِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي الإِقْعَاءِ عَلَى القَدَمَيْنِ، قَالَ: هِيَ السُّنَّةُ، فَقُلْنَا: إِنَّا لَنَرَاهُ جَفَاءً بِالرَّجُلِ، قَالَ: بَلْ هِيَ سُنَّةُ نَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.

Tawus said: "We asked Ibn Abbas (RA) about squatting (sitting) on the heels. He said: 'It is Sunnah.' We said: 'We see it difficult for a man.' He said: 'Rather, it is Sunnah of your Prophet ﷺ.'"

Chapter No: 97

حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ حُبَابٍ، عَنْ كَامِلٍ أَبِي العَلاَءِ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ بَيْنَ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ: اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي، وَارْحَمْنِي، وَاجْبُرْنِي، وَاهْدِنِي، وَارْزُقْنِي.

Narrated from Ibn Abbas (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ used to say between the two prostrations; “O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, compensate me, guide me and provide sustenance for me.”


The like of this hadith is reported by Hassan bin Ali (RA) from Yazid bin Harun from Zaid bin Hubbub from Kamil Abul Ala.

Chapter No: 98

: Abu Hurairah (RA) said: “Some of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ complained to the Prophet ﷺ about the inconvenience of the prostration for them, because of keeping limbs apart (i.e. elbows from knees and sides) so he said: “Use your knees.”

Chapter No: 99

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الحَذَّاءِ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلاَبَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ الحُوَيْرِثِ اللَّيْثِيِّ أَنَّهُ، رَأَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي، فَكَانَ إِذَا كَانَ فِي وِتْرٍ مِنْ صَلاَتِهِ لَمْ يَنْهَضْ حَتَّى يَسْتَوِيَ جَالِسًا.

Malik bin Al-Huwairith Al-Laithi (RA) reported that he saw Allah's Apostle ﷺ offering Salah. During an odd number (of Rak’ah in) his Salah, he would not stand up until he had sat down well.

Chapter No: 100

Abu Hurairah (RA) said: “Allah's Apostle ﷺ would get up during his Salah by putting weight on his toes.
