Sayings of the Messenger احادیثِ رسول اللہ ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: إِذَا أَمَّ أَحَدُكُمُ النَّاسَ فَلْيُخَفِّفْ، فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الصَّغِيرَ وَالكَبِيرَ، وَالضَّعِيفَ وَالمَرِيضَ، فَإِذَا صَلَّى وَحْدَهُ فَلْيُصَلِّ كَيْفَ شَاءَ.

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "When one of you leads the people in prayer then let him be brief (in recitation), for indeed in followers there are; the young and the old, the weak and the ill. When one of you prays alone, then he may pray as he wishes."

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَخَفِّ النَّاسِ صَلاَةً فِي تَمَامٍ.

Narrated from Anas bin Malik (RA) that Allah's Apostle ﷺ was briefer than all people in Salah with its perfectness.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الفُضَيْلِ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، طَرِيفٍ السَّعْدِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مِفْتَاحُ الصَّلاَةِ الطُّهُورُ، وَتَحْرِيمُهَا التَّكْبِيرُ، وَتَحْلِيلُهَا التَّسْلِيمُ، وَلاَ صَلاَةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِالحَمْدُ، وَسُورَةٍ فِي فَرِيضَةٍ أَوْ غَيْرِهَا.

Narrated from Abu Sa'eed (RA) that Allah's Apostle ﷺ said: "The key to Salah is the purification, its Tahrim is the Takbir, and its Tahlil is the Tasleem, and there is no Salah for one who did not recite Al-Hamd (Fatiah) and a Surah in the obligatory (prayer) or other prayers."

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، قَالاَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ اليَمَانِ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِمْعَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَبَّرَ لِلصَّلاَةِ نَشَرَ أَصَابِعَهُ.

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that when Allah's Apostle ﷺ performed the Takbir for Salah he would keep his fingers spread.

وحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ الحَنَفِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِمْعَانَ، قَال: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ مَدًّا.

Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that when Allah's Apostle ﷺ would enter the Salah he would raise his hands while they were extended.

حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ، وَنَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالاَ: حَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ، عَنْ طُعْمَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَنْ صَلَّى لِلَّهِ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا فِي جَمَاعَةٍ يُدْرِكُ التَّكْبِيرَةَ الأُولَى كُتِبَ لَهُ بَرَاءَتَانِ: بَرَاءَةٌ مِنَ النَّارِ، وَبَرَاءَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ.

Narrated from Anas bin Malik (RA) that Allah's Apostle ﷺ said: "Whoever offers Salah for Allah for forty days in congregation, catching the first Takbir, he will get acquittal from two things; acquittal from the fire and acquittal from hypocrisy.”

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى البَصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الضُّبَعِيُّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الرِّفَاعِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ بِاللَّيْلِ كَبَّرَ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ، وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ، وَلاَ إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ كَبِيرًا، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ السَّمِيعِ العَلِيمِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ، مِنْ هَمْزِهِ وَنَفْخِهِ وَنَفْثِهِ.

Abu Sa'eed Al Khudri (RA) narrated that when Allah’s Apostle ﷺ stood for Salah during the night, he would call out Takbir (Allah u Akbar), then say: “Glorious You are O Allah, and with Your praise, and Your Name is blesses, and exalted is Your majesty, and none has the right to be worshipped but You' Then he would say: “Allah is the Greatest, The Greatest, indeed.” Then he would say: “I seek refuge in Allah the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from the cursed Shaitan, from his goading, his arrogance and hi blowing (magic).”

حَدَّثَنَا الحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالاَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ أَبِي الرِّجَالِ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلاَةَ قَالَ: سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ، وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ، وَلاَ إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ.

Aishah (RA) said: “The Prophet ﷺ used to say at the opening of the Salah: ‘Glorious You are O Allah, and with Your praise, and Your Name is blessed, and exalted is Your majesty, and none has the right to be worshipped but You.’”

Ibn Abdullah bin Mughaffal (RA) said: " My father listened me reciting in Salah, (Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim) In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Beneficent, and said: ‘O my son this is a newly invented matter, beware of the new innovations.’” He (Ibn Abdullah) said: "I have not seen any one of the Companions of Allah's Apostle ﷺ who hated a newly invented matter in Islam more than him. And he (Abdullah) said: 'I have offered Salat with the Prophet ﷺ, and with Abu Bakr (RA), and Umar (RA), and with Uthman (RA). I did not hear any one of them saying it. So do not say it. When you are offering Salah recite: (Al-Hamdu lilahi Rabbil-Alamin) "All praise is due to Allah the Lord of all that exists.'"

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، عَنْ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْتَتِحُ صَلاَتَهُ بِ {بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ}.

Ibn Abbas (RA) said: “The Prophet ﷺ used to commence his Salah with (Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim) In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ، وَعُمَرُ، وَعُثْمَانُ، يَفْتَتِحُونَ القِرَاءَةَ بِالحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ العَالَمِينَ.

Anas (RA) said: “ Allah's Apostle ﷺ, Abu Bakr (RA), Umar (RA) and Uthman (RA) commenced the Salah with (Al-Hamdu-lillahi rabbil-alamin) All praise is due to Allah the Lord of all that exists.

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالاَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: لاَ صَلاَةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِفَاتِحَةِ الكِتَابِ.

Narrated from Ubadah bin As-Samit (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "There is no Salah for the one who does not recite Fatihatil-Kitab.”

حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، قَالاَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ حُجْرِ بْنِ عَنْبَسٍ، عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَرَأَ: {غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ الضَّالِّينَ}، فَقَالَ: آمِينَ، وَمَدَّ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ.

Wa'il bin Hujr (RA) said: "I heard the Prophet ﷺ recite: (Not the way of those who earned Your anger, nor those who went astray) (the last verse of Al-Fatiah) and he said: 'Amin.' And he stretched it out with his voice."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، عَنِ العَلاَءِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ الأَسَدِيِّ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ حُجْرِ بْنِ عَنْبَسٍ، عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ.

(Another chain) from Wa'il bin Hujr (RA) who narrated it from the Prophet ﷺ, and it is similar to the narrations of Sufyan from Salamah bin Kuhail
