Sayings of the Messenger احادیثِ رسول اللہ ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ دَبَّرَ غُلاَمًا لَهُ، فَمَاتَ وَلَمْ يَتْرُكْ مَالاً غَيْرَهُ، فَبَاعَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَاشْتَرَاهُ نُعَيْمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ النَّحَّامِ. قَالَ جَابِرٌ: عَبْدًا قِبْطِيًّا مَاتَ عَامَ الأَوَّلِ فِي إِمَارَةِ ابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ.

Narrated from Jabir (RA) that a man among the Ansar made his slave Mudabbar (he said to his slave that you are free after my death). So, he died but didn’t left behind any wealth except the slave. So, the Prophet ﷺ sold him and Nu'aim bin 'Abdullah bin An-Nah-ham purchased him." Jabir said further: "He was Coptic slave who died during the first year of the rule of Ibn Az-Zubair."

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ: نَهَى عَنْ تَلَقِّي البُيُوعِ.

Narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (RA) the Prophet ﷺ prohibited meeting the owners of the goods in a caravan (before reaching the markets).

حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الرَّقِّيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ يُتَلَقَّى الجَلَبُ، فَإِنْ تَلَقَّاهُ إِنْسَانٌ فَابْتَاعَهُ فَصَاحِبُ السِّلْعَةِ فِيهَا بِالخِيَارِ إِذَا وَرَدَ السُّوقَ.

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Prophet (ﷺ) prohibited meeting the caravans bringing grains (to the market). If someone meets them and buys anything, then the owner of the goods retains the option when he reaches the market (to cancel the sale).

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ قَالاَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: وَقَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: لاَ يَبِيعُ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ.

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "The city dweller must not sell for the Bedouin. (He should sell himself)"

حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالاَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لاَ يَبِيعُ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ، دَعُوا النَّاسَ يَرْزُقُ اللَّهُ بَعْضَهُمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ.

Narrated from Jabir (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "The city dweller must not sell for the Bedouin, leave the people alone; Allah provides for them through each other."

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الإِسْكَنْدَرَانِيُّ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْمُحَاقَلَةِ، وَالمُزَابَنَةِ.

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺdisallowed Muhaqalah and Muzabanah. [He said:] There are narrations on this topic from Ibn 'Umar (RA), Ibn 'Abbas (RA), Zaid bin Thabit (RA), Sa'd (RA), Jabir (RA), Rafi' bin Khadij (RA), and Abu Sa'eed (RA). [Abu 'Eisa said:] The Hadith of Abu Hurairah is a Hasan Sahih Hadith. Muhaqalah is selling corps for wheat, and Muzabanah is selling dates that are on the date-palm for dried dates. This is acted upon according to most of the people of knowledge, they disliked sales of Muhaqalah and Muzabanah.

Narrated from Abdullah bin Yazid that Zaid, Abu Ayyash asked Sa'd about exchanging white wheat for barley: which of them was better? He said: “the white”, and then he disallowed that. Sa'd said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ being asked about selling dried dates against ripe dates and he asked to that present round him: ‘Will the fresh dates shrink when they are dry?’ They replied: ‘yes’, so he forbade that.'"

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ النَّخْلِ حَتَّى يَزْهُوَ.

Narrated from Ibn Umar (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺdisallowed selling date-palms until they have blossomed.

وَبِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ السُّنْبُلِ حَتَّى يَبْيَضَّ وَيَأْمَنَ العَاهَةَ، نَهَى البَائِعَ وَالمُشْتَرِيَ.

With this (same as no. 1226) chain: "The Prophet (ﷺ) disallowed selling ears (of grain) until they have whitened and are safe from calamity, he forbade it for both the seller and the buyer."

حَدَّثَنَا الحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الخَلاَّلُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الوَلِيدِ، وَعَفَّانُ، وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالُوا: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ العِنَبِ حَتَّى يَسْوَدَّ، وَعَنْ بَيْعِ الحَبِّ حَتَّى يَشْتَدَّ.

Narrated from Anas (RA) that Allah’s Apostle (ﷺ) disallowed selling grapes until they are black (strengthened) and selling grains until they are hardened."

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ حَبَلِ الحَبَلَةِ.

Narrated from Ibn 'Umar (RA) that the Prophet ﷺdisallowed the sale of Habalil-Habalah (whereby a man buys the off-spring of a she-camel still in its mother’s womb)."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِ الغَرَرِ، وَبَيْعِ الحَصَاةِ.

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺdisallowed the Gharar sale, and the Hasah sale."

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعَتَيْنِ فِي بَيْعَةٍ.

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺdisallowed making two sales in one.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مَاهَكَ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ: يَأْتِينِي الرَّجُلُ يَسْأَلُنِي مِنَ البَيْعِ مَا لَيْسَ عِنْدِي، أَبْتَاعُ لَهُ مِنَ السُّوقِ، ثُمَّ أَبِيعُهُ؟ قَالَ: لاَ تَبِعْ مَا لَيْسَ عِنْدَكَ.

Hakim b. Hizam (RA) said: "I came to the Apostle of Allah ﷺand I asked: 'A man comes to me and asks to buy something which I did not have. Can I purchase it from the market for him and then sell it to him?' He said: 'Do not sell what is not with you.'"

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مَاهَكَ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ قَالَ: نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أَبِيعَ مَا لَيْسَ عِنْدِي.

Hakim b. Hizam said: " Allah’s Apostle ﷺprohibited me from selling what was not with me."

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، حَتَّى ذَكَرَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: لاَ يَحِلُّ سَلَفٌ وَبَيْعٌ، وَلاَ شَرْطَانِ فِي بَيْعٍ، وَلاَ رِبْحُ مَا لَمْ يُضْمَنْ، وَلاَ بَيْعُ مَا لَيْسَ عِنْدَكَ.

Narrated from Abdullah bin Amr (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: “It is not lawful to combine loan and sale, nor two conditions in a sale, nor to take profit from what is not possessed, nor to sell which is not in one’s possession."

حَدَّثَنَا الحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الخَلاَّلُ، وَعَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الخُزَاعِيُّ البَصْرِيُّ أَبُو سَهْلٍ، وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ قَالُوا: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الوَارِثِ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مَاهَكَ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ قَالَ: نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أَبِيعَ مَا لَيْسَ عِنْدِي.

Hakim bin Hizam (RA) said: “Allah’s Apostle (ﷺ) prohibited me from selling what was not with me."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، وَشُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الوَلاَءِ وَهِبَتِهِ.

Narrated from Ibn Umar (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺdisallowed selling the Wala' and gifting it.
